The 2024 Ford Mustang and Mustang Dark Horse offer a Matte Clear Film option from the factory.

The 2024 Ford Mustang brings a fresh face to the pony car’s lineup. With it, fans can get throwback colors like Grabber Blue and Oxford White. However, there’s yet another option for Mustang buyers: a factory Matte Clear Film treatment. However, you’ll have to pay to play with Ford’s protective film; the treatment costs $5,995 from the factory.

The new Matte Clear Film for the 2024 Ford Mustang will protect its paint and de-shine its look

Fortunately for fans of the subdued, low-shine look, Ford is offering a Matte Clear Film treatment for the 2024 Ford Mustang. Not unlike a vinyl vehicle wrap, the treatment augments the look of the car while protecting the paint underneath. Further, Ford says the film better protects paint than an aftermarket wrap.

The film treatment, a product of Pennsylvania-based PPG Industries, is available as an option for any of the 2024 Ford Mustang’s color options. However, Ford says the Matte Clear Film treatment isn’t available with the California Special package, or the graphics packages.

The treatment costs $5,995 and isn’t yet available for Mustang Convertible buyers

Ford offers the Matte Clear Film treatment as a $5,995 option for the 2024 Ford Mustang. While that might seem like a number steeped in lunacy, there might be some method to the madness. The average professional vinyl car wrap costs between $2,000 and $5,000. So, if matte is the look you want on your new Mustang, a factory film treatment could be a viable option.

What’s more, Ford says the film treatment carries a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. It’s the same time period as the Mustang’s basic warranty. As such, should something unexpected happen to your muscle car’s matte treatment, Ford would be on the hook for it. Not Brett and his mobile vinyl car wrapping service. However, depending on the service offering vinyl wrapping services, you could get a lengthier warranty than the Ford three-year, 36,000-mile policy.
