    Key Takeaways

    • Next-gen Palisade spotted with heavy concealment, boxy shape, split-type headlights
    • It features a sharp A-pillar intersection and functional roof rails
    • Rumored to have a 2.5L turbo hybrid engine, with a possible 2025 launch

The next-generation Hyundai Palisade has once again been caught by our spies while testing in the snow-covered landscape of northern Sweden. This follows the sighting in February, the first time the revamped model was seen in public.

Like the previous outing, the next-gen Palisade still wears heavy concealment, protecting the prototype from prying eyes. The SUV’s major panels come with thick cladding, too, hiding the new model’s body. Then again, the overall shape, despite the awkward covering at the rear, appears to be boxy, following the design direction applied to the new-generation Hyundai Santa Fe. However, a few details differentiate the next Palisade from the Santa Fe.

    A Closer Look

While the Santa Fe sports H-themed LED lighting all over the body, the next Palisade seems to be wearing split-type headlights based on the spied prototype. The DRLs are peeking through the openings of the heavy concealment, as is the grille that appears to retain its current massive form.

On the side, the rounded wheel wells will carry on to the next-gen model, while the greenhouse framing has been slightly altered. The intersection of the A-pillar and the roof will be sharp, which goes with the supposed boxy design ethos. We can also see that the roof rails will be functional, which should be good news for customers with active lifestyles. The rear end doesn’t show much, except for the taillights with a vertical orientation.

Buyers can still choose from gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid drivetrains.

    “Next-Level” Palisade

Though not seen in these recent spy shots, previous spy shots revealed the next-generation Palisade will have two screens under a single curved glass in front of the driver. Thankfully, physical buttons, switches, and dials will be retained, though there is a lot to be revealed in the center console. Details under the hood remain unconfirmed at this point, though a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline hybrid and a 3.5-liter turbo V6 were rumored to appear in the revamped model.

Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai’s VP of product planning, confirmed to CarBuzz before that the upcoming Palisade would be “next level.” Whether that’s about style or performance remains to be seen, but we’ll know for certain as more developmental prototypes and information surface before the model’s launch, possibly in 2025.
