The company has installed 20 Detroit eFill commercial charging stations to supply its electric newcomers with the necessary power. According to Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), the 20 eCascadias will help the bottling company save 40,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year.
“Our collaboration with Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling marks a significant milestone in promoting sustainable transportation,” said David Carson, senior vice president, sales and marketing at DTNA. “The integration of Freightliner eCascadias into RCCB’s fleet showcases that business and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand, all while fostering innovation and efficiency.”
“We’re excited to roll out these 100 per cent electric, zero-emission heavy duty tractors as we strive toward our goal of reducing our carbon emissions in our operations by 30 per cent by 2030,” says Tim Heinen, vice president, strategic infrastructure and development, RCCB. “Our electric fleet for Downey, which now includes electric semi-trucks and electric customer care vehicles, will serve customers throughout Southern California and build on our commitment to make a positive difference in our communities.”
Daimler first presented the Freighliner eCascadia for the North American market in 2022. The battery-electric truck model is a Class 8 semitrailer tractor. Customers can choose between three battery options: 194 kWh, 291 kWh and 438 kWh. The latter version is said to have a range of up to 230 miles or 370 kilometres.
The statement about the delivery does not mention which version has opted for.
