Every year, millions of enthusiasts flock to the home of horsepower, Detroit, Michigan, to partake in the annual cruise fest known as the Woodward Dream Cruise. Officially held as a one-day event, the festivities flow for days into the week leading up to the big day. Many groups convene in the Detroit area early to attend off-Woodward gatherings and open houses. The Michigan Corvette Events group is holding an annual Corvettes On Woodward event for like-minded enthusiasts that benefits the Open Hands Food Pantry in Royal Oak, Michigan. Last year Open Hands bought almost one hundred thousand dollars of food to help feed over 20,000 people.
The event is scheduled for August 16th and 17, 2023, the Wednesday and Thursday prior to “The Woodward.” The annual event will start at Noon on Wednesday, the 16th, at the Kingsley Hotel, located at 34475 Woodward Avenue, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The event is a great way for enthusiasts to gather but focuses on helping the hungry.
To attend the event, administrators ask for a minimum $10 donation and some non-perishable food. All of the money collected is donated to Open Hands Food Pantry. The Detroit Tiger Mascot PAWS will make an appearance and will be available for pictures on Wednesday, between 4-6 PM. The Kingsley (host hotel) will have food and beverages for sale for all who attend. There will also be commemorative T-shirts available for purchase at the event.
On Thursday, August 17th, there are tours scheduled of the Lingenfelter Collection and Pratt & Miller’s facilities. Attendees must sign up for the Pratt & Miller tour to be admitted as spaces are limited. Following the tours and other festivities scheduled by the Corvettes on Woodward team, attendees can also participate in the world’s largest cruise on Saturday, August 19, 2023 – the Woodward Dream Cruise.
If you’ve never been to the Detroit area, you owe it to yourself to see all the history and amazing cars that come out for this week-long festival of horsepower, cruising, and cars. Many groups congregate before and during this event and it’s always a great way to make new friends and reunite with those you already know. The scope of cars in attendance ranges from the very new to the very cool vintage hot rods and muscle cars that used to stalk their prey at every stoplight.
