Though we reviewed a 2023 Defender 130 in First Edition guise, pricing is already available for the 2024 model year and the special edition is no longer on sale, so we reference the latest pricing here. The Defender 130 S starts at $69,100, an $8,500 increase over the 110 ($60,600). Remember, though, the 130 does get an inline-six with more torque as standard. Upgrading to the P400 powertrain brings the cost to $77,100 on the Defender 130 S, while the X-Dynamic SE, X, and Outbound are more expensive still, ranging from $81,300 to $99,900 before options. The Defender 130 V8 starts at $116,600, topping out the Defender family. These are MSRP prices and exclude the $1,475 destination fee.
Unless you truly need the space behind the third row or plan to carry more than five passengers often, we would stick with the Defender 110. It’s better looking than the 130, but it comes at a sacrifice of around ten cubes total cargo volume if both models are compared as five-seaters. Most important, it costs a lot less. The Defender 130 certainly doesn’t ruin a great recipe, but it might have been exectured better if it had an extended wheelbase.
