There have been no changes under the hood of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, and anyone familiar with this engine won’t complain about that. The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 has outputs of 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque, and it comes standard with a six-speed manual gearbox. A ten-speed automatic is available optionally, but in both cases, power is directed to the rear wheels only.
In independent testing, the manual version of the sedan could complete the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.6 seconds, with the automatic potentially being even quicker. In another independent test, the CT5-V Blackwing completed the 0-to-150-to-0 speed test almost as quickly as a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Performance, then, is explosive.
To help rein in all that power so effectively, there are standard Brembo brakes, while the Blackwing also has a custom launch control system with line lock. In our experience, the magnetic ride control suspension is as adept on the track as it is on normal roads, so we expect the 2025 model to exhibit the same driving manners.
