The Dodge Challenger is dead. Long live the Challenger. However, the minds behind the Mopar muscle car succeeded in producing a few noteworthy collectibles among the many flavors of Dodge Challengers. Check out a few unique iterations in the model’s long tenure, like the Scat Pack Shaker.

These five Dodge Challengers add a unique twist to the popular muscle car model

The Challenger lineup might be coming to an end, but these five models have the potential to stand the test of time. From throaty classic touches to limited-release SRT models, special edition muscle cars break the rank-and-file monotony.

    Model Engine type
    R/T Scat Pack Shaker N/A 6.4L HEMI V8
    R/T Classic N/A 5.7L HEMI V8
    SRT 392 N/A 6.4L HEMI V8
    Black Ghost Supercharged 6.2L V8
    SRT Demon/SRT Demon 170 Supercharged 6.2L V8

The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker channels classic muscle car vibes

Right up until its discontinuation, the R/T Scat Pack’s 485-horsepower 6.4L HEMI V8 was the most potent naturally aspirated (N/A) muscle car in the segment. Better yet, the Scat Pack Shaker models ditch the standard hood for a throwback shaker setup. It’s a constant reminder of the Challenger’s classic American muscle roots.

What’s more, KBB says a 2015 model with average mileage could be yours for around $17,682. However, a cursory internet search will reveal that most clean Shakers sell for closer to $38,000.

An R/T Classic wears throwback touches to set it apart

The pre-facelift Challenger R/T Classic boasts historic touches that pay homage to the 1970 model. For instance, a glance at the front quarter panels will display a classic “Challenger” script. What’s more, the throwback model was available in heritage colors, like HEMI Orange and TorRed.

How much is a Challenger SRT 392?

An early Dodge Challenger SRT 392 with average mileage has a value of $21,916. Still, fans will be unlikely to find a decent example for less than $35,000.

Like the post-facelift R/T Scat Pack, the SRT 392 packs an N/A 6.4L HEMI V8. However, the “392” in the model’s name refers to the displacement, namely 392 cubic inches.

What is the Dodge Challenger Black Ghost?

As part of the “Last Call” commemorative lineup, Dodge released the “Black Ghost.” The special edition model is a direct homage to Godfrey Qualls, a Detroit police officer with a Challenger and a taste for street racing. Qualls’ Challenger, a black 1970 R/T, had a gator-skin pattern on its roof, as does the limited-release Black Ghost.

One word refers to the pinnacle of Challenger: Demon

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 2023 SRT Demon 170 are the undisputed halo cars of Dodge’s horsepower wars lineup. The 2018 Demon produced 840 horsepower on high-octane fuel and broke record after record. Still, Dodge managed to top its efforts with the final “Last Call” model: the 1,025-horsepower SRT Demon 170.
