Charged at the Electrify America Charger in LA, the test units were fitted with the larger Performance Battery Plus. The participants cruised at a maximum speed of 75 mph, with the range test carried out “under everyday conditions.”
Aside from the range, the new Porsche Taycan will also offer “shorter and more robust charging processes.” With a maximum charging rate of 300 kW (about 30 kW more than before), the EV could get from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes, slightly improving over the 22.5-minute average in the outgoing iteration.
That is made possible using an 800-volt EV architecture from parent company Volkswagen, also found in the Audi e-tron GT. Compared to a 400-volt EV architecture, the 800-volt alternative generally offers faster charging times.
