Most of the changes to the exterior of the Genesis G80 aren’t immediately visible, but once pointed out, you’ll notice how it adds to a genuinely suave and cohesive design. The automaker revealed two derivatives in Korea, the regular G80 and the G80 Sport, both of which have been subject to some TLC.
The concept of “Athletic Elegance” may sound like marketing mumbo jumbo, but Genesis has actually hit the nail on the head with it in the G80. For the 2025 version, the bumpers have been updated and there is a new dual-mesh grille flanked by the familiar split headlights. The headlamps are built with Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology.
The G80 Sport looks a little different, and it gets a double-layered G-Matrix patterned reinforced grille and expanded air intakes. At the back, the rear diffuser has been updated. The exhaust outlets have been hidden but there’s a new distinctive V-shape pointing downward where the mufflers should be. The automaker notes that this speaks about the “move to electrification” and we take that as further confirmation that the Electrified G80 will also be available in the 2025 lineup.
Current models have 18-inch wheels on base trims, with various 19- and 20-inch items available as you move through the trims. There are new 20-inch five double-spoke wheel designs that resemble aircraft propellers, as seen in the images attached.
As far as exterior colors for the new Genesis G80 sedan go, the automaker says there are ten options to choose from – at least in the Korean market – with Brooklyn Brown added as a new hue. There are currently eleven choices in the USA for 2024 models, so we’ll have to wait and see what makes the cut here.
